8 Signs It Was A Good First Date

The dating scene may be very perplexing. On the one hand, it would seem that it would be obvious whether it was a good date or a bad one, but on the other hand, there are times when you just can’t be sure because of overthinking, awkwardness, and simply trying to figure out what the other person is thinking or why they were acting a certain way.

First dates are particularly challenging to understand because, for the most part, you don’t know the person that well and are unsure of how to read their behavior. When they’re relaxed and having fun, some people like to talk a lot, while others prefer to be alone. Some people who are nervous talk, while others choose to remain silent. So, let’s look at a few indicators that the first day truly went well.

1. You Experienced Comfort

We all experience some degree of uneasiness when meeting someone for the first time. However, it’s a positive indicator if you eventually felt at ease with the person you were on a date with after spending 15-20 minutes with them. In general, it’s always a positive indicator if you feel at ease enough to be genuine and express your thoughts without feeling awkward.

2. You Both Sounded Almost the Same.

Going on a date is all about getting to know each other better, which requires conversation on both ends. Therefore, it’s also a positive sign if you feel that you both alternated telling anecdotes about yourself and talking about the same topics. You should never be the only one speaking, just as you shouldn’t be a mute participant forced to listen to someone else talk endlessly about themselves.

3. You Laugh at the Same Things.

Nothing is worse than going on a date with someone whose sense of humor completely clashes with yours. Therefore, it’s a terrific indicator if you both laugh at the same jokes, find the same things to be funny, and generally feel like you have similar senses of humor.

4. You didn’t use your phone to scroll

Given that we spend the majority of our time on our phones these days, it may seem strange, but it’s a positive indicator if you don’t turn to them for enjoyment. That implies that rather than being bored and browsing through Instagram to pass the time on a date, you were actively participating in the conversation and truly enjoying yourself. It’s ok, we realize it’s practically hard to not use a phone at all, but every now and then using a phone to take a group shot or to display a reference to something doesn’t count.

5. They Appeared Happy and Content

A person’s seeming happiness and positive attitudes toward their life are positive traits, so pay attention to them. Yes, there are occasions when our shared dislikes can create a bond, but if the other person spends the entire date whining about their life, job, or previous relationships, that’s not ideal.

6. They Appeared Cool Even When Dealing With Discomfort

On the first date, or any date for that matter, you don’t want to see someone go off their cool. So it’s a very excellent sign if the person you were out with maintained their composure and maintained their positive attitude even when things didn’t go as planned. You need someone who can remain composed under pressure and take things in stride.

7. The date lasted longer than anticipated

Everybody has a tendency to leave an uncomfortable situation. Therefore, it was a nice date if you didn’t have to resort to contacting a buddy or making up an emergency instead of feeling like time just flew by and it was much later than you had anticipated.

8. You’ve Arranged To See Them Once More

And by that, we don’t just mean saying, “We should do this again,” and leaving. You can tell whether a date went well if you truly want to see that person again, you’ve contacted each other, and you’ve made arrangements for the next date that excite you both.
